Beginners Guide To Car Maintenance
In a time when it is hard to keep a hold of your hard earned cash it’s perhaps a prudent decision to cut back on your expenses. One way to save some money is to acquire a basic understanding of car maintenance. If you are able to maintain your car yourself, then the money you would have spent in your local service centre to have a small issue checked up, could be spent elsewhere.
Wheels/Tyres
Remove brake dust regularly:
This is perhaps one of the easiest things you can do to keep things running smoothly. Ensure that you regularly clean off any muck that collects on your brakes. If this collection of grime and water is not removed, the heat that comes from the brakes will harden the stick to the wheels. For the best results when trying to remove the dirt, use a damp sponge and plenty of elbow grease.
Tyre Tread:
The legal limit for tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across 75% of the centre of the tyre. However it is generally accepted by many experts in the field that once a tyre’s tread depth gets lower than 3mm it is time to buy some new ones as the level of grip is significantly reduced.

Etiquette For Car Maintenance
Car maintenance is something that we all have to deal with at some point in our lives. However, what most people fail to realize is that there is certain etiquette that goes along with owning a car. When you are a vehicle owner, you need to be cognizant of other people around you. For instance, if your oil needs to be changed, are you going to change your oil in your driveway where all of the neighbors can see? How would you feel if you came home the next day and saw all of your neighbors changing the oil in their cars in their driveways?
If you absolutely must change the oil in your car, then you should try to do it during a time when there aren’t quite as many people out such as the early morning or later at night. Something like this shouldn’t really be a problem because changing the oil in your car isn’t something that is noisy. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that you are as careful as you can be while actually changing your oil because it can spill and stain the roadway.
